From Hood to Doing Good


Akala speaks about Social Entrepreneurship fousing particularly on the music industry. He speaks of how we can be successful in Hip Hop without following stereotypes such as rapping about crime and money; and the need for a concept in order to have career longevity. He also speaks briefly about his Educational project: Hip Hop Shakespeare.

 

 Action Jackson speaks on the topic: 'I AM AMAZING'! He tells us how all we need to succeed in life is within us and all we have to do is act on it. Going from Hood to Doing Good requires a mindset; we need to believe in ourselves and actively pursue our dreams. 

He also speaks of how we need to stop being afraid; for fear leads to laziness and laziness leads to low self-esteem. 

Keypoint: "Balloons do not float because of their colour; they float because of their content".

 

Interview: Reanna, 18, learned a lot from the program and particularly enjoyed learning about opportunities for education and business. 

 

Interview: Nedima, 15, an aspiring songwriter and music producer, learnt about the steps to take to be successful.

 

 Interview: The Mayor and Assistant Mayor of Suffolk came out to support us and were thoroughly impressed with the program.
