More Details On Friday 29th June 2007, 1-7pm, Starlight Music Academy will be launching their bid for a Peckham Music Enterprise Centre. Levi Roots, Dragons Den’s successful Reggae Reggae Sauce entrepreneur, Adelaide Mackenzie, the Private Collection Band and Barclays Bank are supporting this initiative and will be in attendance at the launch. There will be presentations at this event, a showcase of some young people’s work, live band, who go by the name of “Private Collection”, live performances, talks from Councillors, light food & refreshments. At the launch the proposal for a Peckham Music Enterprise Centre will be presented to local MPs, councillors, senior council officers, Home Office Officials, LDA senior officers, Barclays Bank amongst others. Starlight will be looking for a commitment to resource the proposal to establish a new centre for Peckham. The Peckham Music Enterprise Centre proposal is for a purpose built music Enterprise training Centre aimed at young amateur and aspiring professional musicians and performers from Peckham and the surrounding area. The centre will provide for the area much needed enterprise programmes as well as training opportunities and access to music facilities to make sure they have a positive outlet for their ambitions and talents. It will comprise of studio suites, rehearsal rooms, enterprise training, PC linked seminar rooms and performance space facilities. More Details Adelaide Mackenzie is the latest Gospel singing sensation to take the UK by Storm, and has been described as one of the ‘hardest working music artist, full of vibrancy and with a powerful voice that leaves audiences blessed up!’ She also combines motherhood with working full time, helping people who have Drug and Alcohol related issues. Adelaide Mackenzie’s first single, He Gives Me More, was nominated in for Best Single at the 2004 GEM (Gospel Entertainment Music) Awards. She was also nominated for Best Female in the same year and she then went on to independently sell 1000 copies of the single. 2006 saw Adelaide again nominated by the people for a Best Female Oasis Gospel Music Award and she was successfully awarded Best Female by New Nation Gospel Flava Award. More Details ![]() The Private Collection Band, who has also worked with The Starlight Academy teaching young adults aged between 15 and 24 basic performance technique, is an award winning band which was formed in East London in 1986, playing at local venues and night clubs. 1986 Private Collection first worked with the Mafia & Fluxy record label. In 1991 Private Collection received 2 awards at the British Reggae Awards for BEST VOCAL BAND for that year and for reaching No.1 in the Reggae Charts. Private Collection wrote all the songs on their debut album entitled, THIS IS REAL. Private Collection released a number of songs and wrote two singles with ASWAD. If I Was and Can you feel it. If I Was reached the top 40 in the national charts and features on ASWAD's greatest hits album. Can you feel it is yet to be released. In 1997-99 Private Collection have been writing and producing songs for their new album, which they hope to distribute on their own label. In 2005 Private Collection have created an in-house production label called Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained (NVNG). Private Collection has said about the Peckham Music Enterprise Centre proposal that “We’re all delighted to be supporting such a worthy community cause”. |
