Ruth 's biography

My name is Ruth Brown and I was born on 27th January 1992. I'm of Jamaican descent. I have been in love with singing my whole life, singing in primary school concerts. At secondary school I began to go through a lot of hard times and had no way to let out the negative emotions so I would let them out through singing. It was then i started taking singing seriously, wanting to take it further as a lifetime career. I began taking part in singing competitions and teaching myself how to sing by listening to Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and other great female singers. At the age of 14 I came across Starlight Music Academy and began participating in the training available. I now have a wide vocal range for my age (over 5 octaves), improved tremendously in songwriting and I am able to sing in any genre I choose, including opera.

Now 17, I have a lot of achievements including singing at the Rise Festival, Country Show in Lambeth, 10 Downing Street for the Prime Minister Gordon Brown an Sinitta. I also sang for the likes of Jackie Smith and Ian Blair. In 2007 I took part in the X factor and got to the final 12 girls. The judges told me I couldn’t go any further as I was too good for the show. Since they told me I didn’t need the show I have been writing and composing songs and getting them produced with the help of Starlight Music Academy. I am now compared to the likes of Whitney Houston and Jennifer Hudson.
